Charity auction - Young photo art -FOLKWANG University of Arts

On 01. July starting from 11.00 watch in the Saalbau Essen , in co-operation with WETTMANN Art Auctions and of the Folkwang University of the arts, works of 11 talented artists are auctioned.

In the course of the coming real estate auction of the auction house property stock exchange RhineRuhr AG on 01. July starting from 11.00 watch in the hall building Essen , in co-operation with WETTMANN Art Auctions and of the Folkwang University of the arts, works of 11 talented artists are auctioned.

Half of the proceeds, minus the production costs of artist, will be donated to the Förderurm - Ideas for Essener Kinder e.V. to good. "The non-profit association förderturm - Ideen for Essener Kinder e.V. was founded in 2001 with the aim of supporting Essener Kinder and young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and ."

Lot 1 - Samuel Solazzo

Samuel Solazzo (born 1993) is a German photographer and artist . In 2018 he graduated with a B.F.A. in Visual Communication from Bauhaus-University. In the same year he published the self-published photo magazine KORRELATIONS as a co-author, which successfully continued with a second issue in December 2020. Both issues were awarded bronze (longlist) at the German Photo Book Award.

As of Octobre 2019, he is continuing his studies at Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen as part of the M.A. Photography Studies and Practice program. A work in progress of his work Future Remnants of What Has Been was most recently on view in the UG of Museum Folkwang in Essen . He currently lives and works in Essen, Deutschland.

Lot 2 - Xiaole Ju

Xiaole Ju was born in 1986 in Yunnan PR-China . After his graphic design studies and activity in Beijing, he has moved in 2014 to Essen Deutschland moved. There he studied at the Folkwang University of the Arts Bachelor Photography.

Since 2019 he continues his MA "Photography Studies and Practice" studies at Folkwang UDK. Xiaole Ju is engaged in his photographic focus: documentary photography, and has shown his photographic works at various group exhibitions e.g. "Bloß keine Verlustängste! (2018, Atelier107, Gelsenkirchen)", "Folkwang Finale 2019 (SANAA building, Essen)". "Stopover 2020 (Museum Folkwang, Essen)".

In his current photobook project "UTC+2&1 Essen NRW", Xiaole Ju searches his own position as a foreign student inside (and also outside) German society through his photographic wandering in the city Essen in North Rhine-Westphalia. He has also formulated short texts on English for different Essen places shown in photo book, so that he can guide viewers to other cultural aspects. The cityscape prints and two books "UTC+1" and "UTC+2" as a pair is until the end June 2021 at the exhibition "Stopover 2020 "in Folkwang Museum Essen to see and read.

Lot 3 - Anne-Christin Stroje

Anne-Christin Stroje (born 1992) is a photographer and artist and currently lives in Oldenburg. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld in 2018, majoring in Photography. Since 2019, she has been studying at Folkwang University of the Arts in the master's program Photography Studies and Practice. Since 2015, her photographic works have been regularly shown in group and exhibitions.

In 2019 Anne-Christin Stroje won the Förderpreis for Photography of the Kulturstiftung der Öffentliche Oldenburg and is since then represented in the art collection of the Öffentliche Oldenburg.

Her current work The Smell of Summer Rain is currently on display m the basement of the Museum Folkwang in Essen .

Lot 4 - Rebecca Racine Ramershoven

Rebecca Racine Ramershoven is currently studying for a Master's degree in Photography Studies & Practice at Folkwang University of the Arts Essen. Her artistic interests lie in the photographic exploration and processing of socio-cultural themes and issues. Since 2014 her photographic work has been shown in national and international solo and group exhibitions. Most recently, Rebecca Racine Ramershoven participated in the 13th Conference of the Collegium for African American Research in Orlando/Florida (USA) and the Athens Photo Festival 2020 at the Benaki Museum in Athens/ Greece with the work Me & Mr. Jones.

Currently her works "How macht time do you möchten?" and "Resilience" exhibited at the Folkwang Museum Essen .

Lot 5 - Amy Haghebaert

Amy Haghebaert (*01.12.1992 - Kortrijk, Belgium) is a Belgian photographer and visual storyteller who lives in Cologne, Deutschland lives and works. After finishing her bachelor degree in photography in Brussels at the end of 2019, she wanted to broaden her (art) horizons and , moved to Deutschlandwhere she has since been studying the M.A. program "Photography Studies And Practice" at the Folkwang University of the Arts.

Amy Haghebaert's work refers on the effect of interpersonal relationships, the appearance of time and the (self-)portrait. In doing so, her expression stands in the tension between nostalgia and immediate reality. Her photographic work "They Will Be Seen Drifting Above The Clouds, All Our Blameless, Childish Hopes" is currently on view in the group exhibition "Stopover" at Museum Folkwang.

Lot 6 - Elena Kruglova

Elena Kruglova was born in 1990 in St. Petersburg.Since 2014 she lives and works in Essen. Since 2019 she studies in the master program Photography Studies and Practice at the Folkwang University of the Arts and is a guest student at the Academy of Arts Düsseldorf in the class of Prof. Donnelly. Her photographic interest lies on the border between the documentary and and the artistic. In doing so, she has a critical and playful approach to the medium. Her work "rocket science", which it deals with the incomprehensibility and the complexity of simple processes, was recently on display in the basement of the Museum Folkwang.

Among others, she was awarded the Marianne Ingenwerth Stiftung Projektstipendium 2019 as well as the Deutschlandstipendien 2017/2018 and 2020/2021. In 2021 she was supported by the scholarship program of the Ministry for Culture and Science of the State of NRW.

Lot 7 - Florian Fäth 

Florian Fäth is a student at the Folkwang UdK Essen and working as a photographer. He is studying in the Master Photography Studies & Practice. His academic path has brought him from the TU Darmstadt (B.Sc. Architecture) via the Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle (M.A. Photography), with a study visit to Helsinki at Aalto University, to Essen .

In his works he deals with the reunification of East and West Germany. Architecture plays a central role in this and is a projection surface for various circumstances, which he develops in individual groups of works on this subject. Another interest is the built environment, especially in relation on infrastructure and its cultural influence. His works often include a media-reflexive examination. His current work "Einheitsbrei" is shown, currently at the Museum Folkwang, in a group exhibition. In addition, in recent years he has had the opportunity to show works at the Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt, the Deutsches Architektur Museum in Frankfurt and the Wissenschaftszentrum in Bonn, as well as in offspaces in Germany and abroad.

Lot 8 - Silviu Guiman

Silviu Guiman (b. 1988) earned his B.A. degree from the Cologne International School of Design with the work "̵M̵y̵ ̵l̵o̵v̵e̵l̵y̵ ̵I̵n̵d̵i̵a̵"̵. His training in artistic photography includes study residencies at the Polytechnic University School of Design in Hong Kong (2013), Moholy Nagy University of Arts (2015), and PARSONS New School in New York City (2016). In 2014, the illustrated book "People and Moments" was published by J.P. Bachem Verlag, in which he was significantly involved with portraits.

In 2014 he received a "Global Learning and Education Network Scholarship" made possible by the European Union and completed a working residency in New Delhi. This was followed by an artist residency in New Delhi as an "ETASHA Fellow" in 2017. The projects was shown in 2019 at Museum for Applied Art Cologne .

In 2016 Silviu got the scholarship of FH-Cologne for the group project "YalaMaha" in Sri Lanka among others with Goethe Institute Colombo & WDR Cologne as project partners. Since 2019 Silviu is studying at Fokwang University of Arts in Master of Arts Photography and is currently showing his work "WE MOVE MOUNITAINS" at Museum Folkwang, dealing with the largest gold deposits on the European continent - the Alburnus Major from Romania.

Lot 9 - Rosa Lisa Rosenberg

Rosa Lisa Rosenberg (born 1992 in Duisburg) Photographic artist. 2018 Bachelor's degree in photography at the FH Dortmund with the work "Myths of the near future". In the same year winner of the Youth Photography Award in the category "Imaging and Experiments" and of the audience award with her photo book "absence".

Since 2019 in the master program "Photography Studies and Practice" at Folkwang University of the Arts. Thematically explores other worlds and perceptions in an artistic-conceptual way. In doing so, she works significantly installative and uses cross-media techniques. Exhibitions in recent years include: at Walzwerk Null, at the Künstlerhaus Dortmund, on the photokina, as part of Les Rencontres de la Photographie and most recently in the basement of the Museum Folkwang.

Lot 10 - Lea Bräuer

Lea Bräuer (born 1993) is a German photographer and artist currently living in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia and . She has been a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation since 2017. In 2019, she completed her B.A. in Communication Design with the photographic work "Wo Milch and Honig fließt" at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. This socio-critical work seeks an artistic approach to the topic of slum or forced prostitution in Deutschland. The project received media attention and and was presented in the online format of the magazine "Monopol" and on "jetzt.de", the young online magazine of the Süddeutsche Zeitung.

In addition, the project will be shown at a conference of the Goethe-Institut in Israel in Mai 2022. Lea Bräuer has been part of the master's program "Photography Studies and Practice" at Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen since Octobre 2019 . In other photographic works, she repeatedly enters into discourse with the "peaceful image." So also in her current work "The Fragile Space," which was most recently on view in the UG of the Museum Folkwang in Essen . Her photographs have also been shown at the Kulturstiftung des Bundes in Halle (Saale), at Kunstraum Potsdam, at the Leipzig Book Fair, at Galerie Kang Contemporary Berlin, and in various OFF-Space exhibitions.

Lot 11 - Julia Tillmann

The artist Julia Tillmann was born on 12. Mai 1994 in the small Bavarian town of Landsberg am Lech. Photography has always been a medium which she was very fascinated, so she completed her bachelor's degree in photography at the University of West London in 2017.

Since Octobre 2019, the artist is enrolled in the master's program Photography Studies and Practice at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen . Her photographic interests include experimental work using alternative exposure methods, how cyanotype, which was used to create a work that has been on display at the Folkwang Museum in Essen .

Cyanotype is one of the first exposure processes, which developed in 1842 after the daguerreotype and talbotype/calotype to produce stable photographic images.
