History
15 years, 80 auctions, over 35,000 objects
After 10 years of experience in the art and antiques trade, David Christian Wettmann founded the auction house at Ruhr in 2008.
By the already numerous existing business contacts the first Auction was a full success and put thus the foundation-stone for many further auctions.
The auction house at Ruhr quickly established itself as an important player in the national and and international auction business. In our business premises in the old town of Mülheim, in direct location to Ruhr and the water station, up to four auctions take place annually. The main focus is on the sale of modern art, old art, design, Antiques as well as jewelry & luxury watches.
With numerous record-breaking sales in recent years and through the sale of art collections of well-known entrepreneurial families from the Ruhr area, the WETTMANN Art Auctions received great international attention. Currently, some world records are held. With the purchase of the villa in Friedrichstraße 67-67a - the "street of millionaires" -, have we consciously for chose the location in the heart of the Ruhr area.
In 2022 have we will further expand our presence in the Ruhr region with another large representative office in an exclusive location of Essen Bredeney our . There from regular online auctions, sales, online store and our safe lounge with over 280 high-security lockers are operated. With a total exhibition area of over 1,100sqm and approx. 3,500,000 million euros in sales, WETTMANN Art Auctions is the leading auction house in the Ruhr region.
With the planned expansion into the Rhineland, Düsseldorf in 2024 we will further consolidate our position as a local authority for the purchase and sale of art, Antiques, jewelry & luxury watches.
Our Representative office on of the Bredeneyer road 119-121 in Essen stands in the direct succession of the auction house L&B Art Auctions, which was active over 30 years in Essen .
