In 2008, in the spirit of Franco-German friendship, Imi Knoebel was commissioned by the French Ministry for Culture and Communication to design six windows for the apse of Reims Cathedral. As one of the most important German artist of our time, his windows can be admired in the venerable cathedral alongside Marc Chagall's from 1972. They flood the cathedral in a colorful sea of lights, but until it was ready "three years of searching and experimentation passed until the finished windows of hand-blown antique glass could be installed in 2011. "1 Knoebel drew inspiration from his knife-cut series "Red Yellow Blue" (1977-1980). Red, yellow and blue are the shapes cut by hand with a knife, the sum of which creates object . it are individual slivers in the strong primary colors. But no part resembles the other, all have their individual design and their own place in the picture. They join in overlaps, intersections and as a collage to a complete work.
From this very series of works also comes our offered object! A gift for the wedding should be it - for this reason, our knife cut from the artist's studio has been given to the friendly neighbors and remained in private hands until today.
